Journeys: Reading the World

Collage image of items included in the Journeys exhibition, including a giant from Gulliver’s Travels, a tourist with binoculars, Notre Dame Cathedral, a plane, a world map, three arctic explorers and an aeroplane.

Journeys: Reading the World explores the themes of travel, adventure and exploration using the rare books, diaries, maps and letters in the Palace Green Library special collections.

Investigate the differences between travellers and tourists and examine the legacies of European exploration. You will also find out more about historic journeys to and from Durham, hear stories of pioneering women travellers and walk the fine line between travel fact and travel fiction.

The exhibition looks just as good on desktop or mobile, so whether you are stuck at home or out on a journey of your own, visit this immersive exhibition today.
