Enjoy special dragon themed displays in our China Gallery

This month we are celebrating Lunar New Year at the Oriental Museum with a special display for the Year of the Dragon.

Learn how Chinese families decorate their homes and celebrate together.   Find out more about New Year traditions such as shadow puppet theatre and lion dancing.  See some of the wonderful dragons in our collection decorating imperial jades, silk robes and amazing Chinese porcelain or hunt for all 12 zodiac animals in our displays on animals in Chinese art.

Every year we welcome hundreds of school children from across the region who come to the Oriental Museum to learn about Lunar New Year.  If you are visiting during on a weekday, please be aware that there may be a school group using the gallery between 10am and 2pm.
