Donate an object

The Oriental Museum owes its very existence to the private passions of collectors fascinated by Egyptian antiquities, Chinese ceramics, jades and hardstones and many other areas of Asian art and material culture.

Bequests and donations from private collections continue to play a key role in the Museum's development. If you are a private collector and would like to discuss donating an object to the Museum please contact the Curator of University Museums, Dr Craig Barclay on +44 (0)191 3345694 or at c.p.barclay@durham.ac.uk.

Information regarding object identification can be found on our Object Identification page.

Please note that we are obliged to make sure that every acquisition is in line with our Acquisitions policy, and that we have the resources to conserve and store donated objects appropriately. If the Museum cannot accommodate your gift, it may be able to suggest an alternative recipient.
