The Main Library is being renamed 'The Bill Bryson Library'!

(24 September 2012)

As you may have noticed, the sign above the door of the University’s main library now reads the ‘Bill Bryson Library’! The Library is being renamed after the University’s 11th Chancellor, Bill Bryson, author of international best-selling non-fiction titles such as ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’.

Bryson will be attending an official renaming ceremony at the Library in November, but we'll be gradually adopting the new name across all communications in the run up to the event. Over the next few weeks, you'll notice changes on our webpages and the Library catalogue, and all of our Library guides for 2012-2013 also use the new name the 'Bill Bryson Library'.

The Education Library is also being renamed, becoming the 'Leazes Road Library'. For more information, read our news story.
