The Education Library becomes the Leazes Road Library

(17 September 2012)

Library developments

Study areas at the Education Library have reopened today, coinciding with the start of term time opening hours at the Library. The Education Library is being renamed 'the Leazes Road Library' ahead of the 2012-2013 academic year to recognise that the Library holds a range of collections, not just Education materials.

In future communications, we'll be referring to the Leazes Road Library, and the descriptions of the Library on our webpages and on the Library catalogue will be changing gradually over the next few weeks.

During summer 2012, refurbishment work has been taking place at to create new study areas and modernise existing facilities. Staff areas have been reduced and the Help and Information desk has been moved to face the Library entrance. The Education Library staff office and Room 4 are now bookable group study rooms.

The Education Journal collections have been moved from Room 8 on the first floor of the Library down to the ground floor, close to the entrance. Room 8 is now a dedicated study space for taught and research postgraduates. View a floorplan of the newly refurbished Library.

The Hild Bede College Library collection will also be moving to the School of Education in September 2012.
