Once legislation is in force it it tested and interpreted through the court system. These interpretations of legislation are recorded in law reports.
UK Law Reports
Law reports can be located by a keyword search of journals on the Library catalogue. This will direct you to the printed series on level 4 of the Bill Bryson Library or to electronic copies available on Lexis Library and Westlaw UK.
Before 1865 several legal firms produced series of law reports. These have been consolidated and reprinted in the English Reports.
Opinions from selected Scottish cases from 1873 to present are available from the Scottish Council for Law Reporting. Judgements from Scottish cases from 1998 onwards can be found on the Scottish Courts and Tribunals website.
Some Crown Court cases that were not reported can be found in the Lawpages site. Note that you will need to register (free) to use this site.
Non-UK Law Reports
Eur-Lex for European Union legislation.
HUDOC is the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights, the European Commission of Human Rights and the Committee of Ministers. The judgments, decisions, resolutions and reports of these bodies are held in a database and can be consulted via a sophisticated search screen.

World Legal Information Institute provides free access to case reports, legislation and legal documents from over 120 jurisdictions.
Commonwealth Legal Information Institute for over 60 Commonwealth and common law (Hong Kong and Ireland) jurisdictions.
Supreme Court of India gives judgements of the Supreme Court from 1950 to the present.
