Hands-On Leather Stamping

18th August 2018, 10:00 to 16:00, Palace Green Library (Learning Centre)

10:00 - 16:00

Free - no booking required

Adults and childrenalike can have a go at creating their own unique decorated leatherwork item.

Participants will be able to choose what they want to decorate from a number of pre-cut shapes including bookmarks, animals, transport, swords, shields and other themed shapes.

A number of different stamps and tools will be available so that people can create their own unique designs.

Why not take inspiration from our Bodies of Evidence exhibition? Leather-working would have been a familiar craft activity for the Scottish soldiers in the seventeenth century as many of their clothes, shoes and kit would have been made of this natural and hard-wearing material.

This activity is suitable for adults and children of all ages although young children may need assistance and all children must be supervised whilst taking part. There is no need to book as this is a free, drop-in event.
