See Oriental Museum Objects online in 3D

(4 July 2016)

The Oriental Museum has begun to make 3D models of some of its collections available online.

3D scans of two objects from the museum's ancient Egypt collection are now available freely available to view on Sketchfab. You can explore a ushabti (shabti) figure and heart scarab in full, turning them round to see all sides in a way that isn't possible within the museum.

This project was undertaken by Cole Kelly, a student studying for an MA in the Department of Archaeology at Durham University.

Museum staff are keen to gather feedback on the models. What other objects from the museum's collections would you like to see online in this way? Let us know what you think by emailing
