Leazes Road Library Study Facilities

There is a wide range of computing and study facilities available in the Leazes Road Library. Please ask Library staff if you have any queries about our study facilities which are not answered by the information on this page.

Group study facilities

Room 4 is available as a quiet study room for up to two people. It is equipped with a television, video, DVD player and an audio tape / CD player. This room may be booked in advance for groups to use via the online study room booking system. The study room key can be collected from the Help and Information desk and will be issued to the person who books the room. If the key is not collected after 15 minutes, the booking will be cancelled and the room released to another group. It is therefore important that you collect the key promptly. If you have any overdue books you will be unable to book or use a study room. As in other parts of the Library, no eating or drinking is allowed in the study rooms. Rooms should be cleared after use. Consecutive bookings by the same group are not permitted.

Please note that there is a fine of £1 per hour for the late return of a Group study room key.

Leazes Road Library Study Carrels

There are five study carrel spaces in Room 7. These are available on a first come first served basis. As in other parts of the Library, no eating or drinking is allowed in the carrels. The carrels should be cleared after use.

Throughout the Library there are also plenty of desk spaces which are available for use by anyone.

Leazes Road Library Computing Facilities

As well as some computer provision in the library, The School of Education has an open access PC room, ED244. Details on the specification of the PCs can be found on the CIS web pages.

The Leazes Road Library has a computer available for this service. A registration procedure needs to be followed on every visit to the Library where you wish to use online resources. Details of this service can be found in our guide to online access for non-University users.

Laptop loan service

A wireless laptop loan service is available which enables users to work online anywhere within the Leazes Road Library. Laptops available for loan and they are issued for a 4 hour 'short-loan' on a first come first served basis.
