Support for teaching
Scan and Deliver
We are offering a new ‘Scan and Deliver’ service, initially for our academic staff, PGR and PGT students. Users will be able to request scans of chapters and articles available in print in the Bill Bryson library for individual research only. This will be through an online request form on Discover, where you can search our collections and resources. The request form will be available from Friday 3 July and details will be available on our website. (Please note: If you require items to be digitised for teaching purposes, follow the digitisation of library resources for reading lists guidance below).
Click and Collect
Our Click and Collect service will be available from Monday 13 July. Initially, this will be available to academic staff, postgraduates and researchers and will be extended to other users in August (more details to follow).
To submit your request, you will need to complete the Click and Collect form on our website – please note, this form will only be available from Monday 13 July.
Updating Reading Lists
The library is currently changing its procedures for processing reading lists to accommodate the current unprecedented environment. This page will be updated over the next few days as this process is defined and instructions for submitting reading list requests will be circulated to all departments shortly. Meanwhile tutors can prepare by:
- Checking the library catalogue https://library.dur.ac.uk/ to see if an ebook is already available.
- Checking to see if a required source is available as an ebook by using the ebook checker. For now you can place your request using this service. Please remember to add your contact details and the module code.
- Checking the CLA's Check Permissions tool to see if the material you may wish the library to scan is covered by the copyright licence.
- Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Digitisation of library resources for reading lists.
In the template for submitting reading lists to the library there will be a dedicated space for describing extracts required for digitisation. To make requests in the interim, please follow the guidance at Ask the library to digitise materials for your students.
The information on this page is valid from 3rd July 2020 until further notice.
