(a) Writ de casibus ecclesiasticis. Ed. Councils and Synods II,ii, 974-5. This copy appears to be a substantially redrafted form of the well-known writ, attributable to June or July 1286, closest to that in W. Prynne, Records ..., iii (History of King John ...), 336. E. B. Graves, EHR 43 (1928), 1-20, analysed 100 copies, none with the negative transposed from 'puniendo' as here.

(b) Article de regiam prohibicionem. Printed Graves, art. cit., p. 16; this copy falls in his Family B (p. 17), but lacks, probably as a result of omission through homoteleuton, most of the clause concerning cash penalties, 'Item si prelatus ... regia prohibicio si'. See Councils and Synods II,ii, 874-5, for the original version, as art. 2 in a report of clerical complaints and the king's replies, 1280. When separate this article is commonly found associated with (a), and as such may have been first issued with it, see Graves, pp. 14-15.
