Durham History Photo Competition
Help us to show the world what it’s like to study History at Durham by entering our first ever photo competition! We are looking for photos that capture many different ways of being a Durham historian; whether it is an image of everyday life as a student, travelling for research, or something else entirely. The winner will receive a £50 book token and runner up will receive a £25 book token. Many of the best photos will feature on the Department’s website giving acknowledgements wherever they are used.
Entries should be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject ’Durham History Photo Competition’. Your email should include your name, your Student ID number, your course and year of study. For each photograph include a photograph title, a brief description of where the photo was taken, and whether you consent to the Department storing the image and using it in future web or print publications. Anyone entering can submit up to three photos. The closing date is Friday 28th June 2019 and winners will be announced ready for the start of the 19/20 academic year. A panel of students and staff will judge the photographs.
The competition is open to all current Durham History undergraduates and postgraduates. The photo(s) must have been taken by you during your course. Photos should be high resolution (ideally 300dpi) and submitted in jpeg, png or tif format. Please match the file name with the photo title in your email. If your photo(s) feature recognisable people, you are responsible for making sure they know what the photo is for, that it may be used in the History Department’s webpages, and that they consent to being photographed. If you do not want your photo(s) to be stored by us for future use, then please tell us in your submission email.
