The Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Hild-Bede is similar to the Junior Common Room (JCR) of other Colleges except that constitutionally it represents both undergraduates and postgraduates whereas a JCR traditionally is for undergraduates.
The SRC is headed by a fully-elected Executive with the SRC President (Senior Man/Women) being retained in a one-year sabbatical post. The President works closely with the College Senior Officers on behalf of the student body and also acts in a welfare role. Both the President and Deputy-President attend the weekly meetings of the College Senior Officers.
The extensive array of student-orientated events is organised by the Executive, particularly the Balls Officer and the Social Secretary. The Deputy-President has overall responsibility for the student aspects of the major College events of Formal Meals and College Day.
Four students are full members of the College Council whilst others have membership of the standing College Committees; House and Catering and Bar.
Postgraduate students in their second and third years are invited to join the Senior Common Room (SCR) and can become either resident or non-resident mentors to our undergraduate students.
