In an emergency
First,
- if the Fire Brigade, Police or Ambulance Service are required, dial 9999 and give clear details to the public emergency service.
Then,
- dial 43333 to advise University security staff, who will liaise with the public emergency services and initiate agreed procedures.
The list of staff to be contacted in an emergency is held by the University Security Office (42222).
When calling for assistance:
- keep calm!
- be preparted to give a BRIEF, CLEAR and PRECISE explanation of the problem
- be ready to give your exact location (e.g. room, floor, block, Department or College, street or road name and number)
Health and Safety Service
In the event of a very serious incident, e.g. explosion, collapse of a structure, death of a person in an accident, the Health and Safety Service must be telephoned ext. 42660. If there is no reply, please contact security who will deal with the situation.
