Visitor Centre

The Garden’s Visitor Centre has a Coffee-Shop which offers a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and an extensive range of snacks and bakery items. This is the perfect place to unwind after a stroll around the Botanic Garden. Take a look at the selection of hot, cold food and drinks available on our menu:

However, you don't have to be visiting the Botanic Garden to make use of our café. If you are just coming in for a coffee, or to find that perfect birthday gift in our shop, you won't be charged admission.

During the year our Coffee-Shop also serves as an exhibition space to showcase the work of local artists and photographers, many of whom offer their work for sale. Such artwork provides added interest when sipping a hot chocolate on an autumn afternoon.

The current menu is shown below:

Gift Shop

The Botanic Garden’s Gift Shop is full of unique and lovely items, many not found anywhere else in Durham. We have a great range of gifts for the keen gardener; with various sized seed boxes, string holders, watering cans and some easy size garden trug and gloves for gardening beginners.

Looking for a gift? Then check out our range of beautiful fine bone-china mugs, teapots and textiles.

We also have a large selection of traditional, handmade greeting cards available for any special occasion. Our ‘Kids Corner’ has expanded, so watch out for the giant bugs and stretchy caterpillars, with many items under £10.
