I.I.P.P Research Sri Lanka

In-depth ethnographic forms of data collection:

In this initial period of ethnographic research, Sri Lankan researchers will be involved in participant observation and informal visits to sites where the Durham Project Sri Lanka and IASSW network are active. The intention is to gain local perceptions of 'community' and understandings of who 'belongs' in the various villages under evaluation and who they consider the key actors involved in disaster relief following the tsunami. This stage is also important in establishing initial contact with, and the recruitment of, research participants who are willing to be interviewed for the next stage of the research.
