Sociology in Action

Since 2019 the department has annually held a Sociology in Action week.  Linked to our research and our taught curriculum, the aim of this week is to take our work out of the classroom and explore Sociology and Criminology from a different perspective.

Past projects have included

  • A teach out on the theme of 'Fake News' held in the Durham Miners Institute
  • An artist in resident scheme focused on collaboratively creating songs of protest linked to our Research themes.

This year's project is a writing residency facilitated by three writers open to current students to explore the theme of identity as it relates to Sociology and Criminology.
