Enthuse Partnership

Supported by funding from STEM Learning’s Project Enthuse, our partnership of primary schools, a secondary, the local Authority and Science Outreach has developed a mutually supportive network that has stimulated primary science teaching and activity, and enhanced teacher confidence and knowledge. Focussing on developing practical investigation skills with purpose and a clear route of subject knowledge progression, we have:

  • increased the presence of science in the schools;
  • completely changed the approach to assessment;
  • incorporated and enhanced pupil voice;
  • have teams of trained Key Stage 2 Science Ambassadors and Key Stage 3 mentors;
  • involved multiple partners including businesses, universities and institutes;
  • involved families and celebrated pupils’ and staff achievements.

We are Victoria Lane Academy, Middlestone Moor Primary, St Patrick’s Primary in Dipton, Prince Bishops Community Primary, St Bede’s School & Sixth Form in Lanchester, Durham Local Authority and Durham University Science Outreach.

Post-funding, we are still working together aiming to develop practical science activities that enhance progression from early years through primary school and into Key Stage 3.

Lorraine was recognised for her successful leadership of the Enthuse project.
