Durham Schools' Science Festival

Tuesday 26th March to Thursday 28th March 2024

Examples of activities at the Durham Schools' Science Festival

The annual Durham University Schools' Science Festival aims to stimulate interest and encourage wider participation in science, and to support the next generation of scientists from the local area. School students from across the region who participate in the Durham University Schools' Science Festival follow a demanding programme of engineering projects including design, building and testing, and a range of hands-on science and technology activities.

Year 9 pupil who attended the festival

The Festival targets Year 9 and Year 10 school students giving them opportunities to widen their understanding and appreciation of science and technology through hands-on practical activities that they may not have access to at school. Our aim is to help them think more about their future and the world around them as well as boosting their confidence in their own abilities.

If you are a school interested in taking part (or would simply like more information) please do not hesitate to contact Linda Campbell, Science Engagement Officer, who manages the Festival.

We have found the activities perfect for inspiring our students.
