Scientific adventures: Mission to Mars and Go Robots!

Our ongoing partnership with Oxclose Primary Academy in Washington has taken us on many scientific adventures over the past few years. In 2017 we managed to travel all the way to Mars, in 2018 we went wild for robots and 2019 took us back to the time of the dinosaurs.

Working with staff from the school, Science Outreach and academics from the Departments of Anthropology, Physics, Earth Sciences and Computer Sciences developed resources and activity ideas to support subject knowledge and scientific enquiry development. Continual Professional Development sessions help to scaffold the learning, and support school staff in developing a week-long programme of themed practical activities for the pupils, incorporating real research at Durham University.
