Funding Opportunities

Undergraduate Summer Research Bursaries

Open to Durham University students only, our bursaries offer 6-8 weeks of research embedded in an interdisciplinary research laboratory. Closing date: 26 April 2024

Travel and Training Bursaries

Our Travel and Training Bursaries provide funding to attend conferences, visit colleagues' laboratories and to take part in training (placements or courses). Two categories of Travel and Training Bursaries are available: ECR Travel and Training Bursaries, Staff Travel and Training Bursaries. No closing date. 

Flexible Funding Scheme

Our Flexible Funding Scheme is designed to support new collaborations that have the potential to lead to significant outputs. The funds can be used flexibly e.g. for small items of equipment and consumables, as well as to hold workshops or visitors with a view to building grant applications. No closing date. 

BSI Create Support - Seed

Our Art-Science collaboration platform BSI Create, brings creatives and academics together with scientists from the Biophysical Sciences Institute (BSI) to foster new perspectives and spark high quality public engagement projects. Closing date: 26 April 2024.

Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network

Our Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network supports postgraduates starting out in a biophysical sciences career. The network can also assist with cross-departmental relationship building through regular network meetings, talks, and skills events. 

Our Research Network

We can connect you with a broad network of researchers through our research strands. You can also access funding to support grant applications, events, and research activities.
