Rehmat Goodwin & Anna McCartain: Introduction to Spectroscopy: a technique to decode the information in the light OCW017 1-2pm 3rd August 2017

This Thursday, we will have a seminar given by Rehmat Goodwin and Anna McCartain. Rehmat and Anna are A-level students who volunteered to join our group for a summer project of 5 weeks and 2 weeks, respectively. This is their first experience of a research project and they will tell us why spectroscopy is important, what information can be obtained from a spectrum and how to get that information. In addition, they will talk about the main conclusions of their research, and end with a discussion of application of spectroscopy to astronomy, and in particular to the Sun.
We encourage everyone to attend and support our last summer project students in their exciting exploration of instrumentation!
