Music Durham Cathedral Concert - Joy!

21st June 2021, 19:30 to 21:30, Durham Cathedral

Music Durham is delighted to present our annual Cathedral concert, showcasing the talents of several of our incredible music ensembles. This year has seen mostly virtual music-making from our societies but we are finally able to play together live in this concert, in a celebration of musical Joy!

We hope this evening will be a display of our student musicians’ resilience in a year that gave us many difficulties – and a showcase of the unwavering talent we host in Durham. From Holst’s mighty Jupiter from The Planets, the Bringer of Jollity, to a self-written world premiere depicting Joy by our New Art Music Ensemble, we have something for all musical tastes in this comeback performance! We will also be hearing the overture to Mozart’s Magic Flute; Vivaldi’s Gloria; Durham alum James Macmillan’s exciting Galant Weaver, among other fantastic pieces.

This not to be missed event will re-launch our live performances, and bring some much needed joy to performer and audiences alike.

Programme features:
Chamber Choir
Choral Society
Classical Ensemble
Concert Band
Durham Dynamics
Foot Notes
Gospel Choir
New Art Music Ensemble
Northern Lights
Orchestral Society
Palatinate Orchestra
