The Origins of London Transport's Visual Identity
Speaker: Richard Taylor
Since emerging in 1916 the London Underground bullseye logo and unique sans-serif typeface have become symbols not just for transport but for the capital itself. How did Edward Johnston, an Uruguayan-born student of mediaeval calligraphy, collaborate with a manager from the north-east’s own railway company to bring about this revolution in graphic design?
