Speaker: Professor Christina Riggs
The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in November 1922 made headlines, but it was photography that brought this minor pharaoh worldwide fame. This talk considers how the excavators took photographs under the pressure of both media interest and politics. What could a fresh look at these photos tell us about Tutankhamun, Howard Carter, and the history of Egyptian archaeology?
