Whittled down from over 15,000 nominees, 2016 graduate Nathaniel Barling secured a spot in the prestigious list.

Through their annual ’30 Under 30’ lists, Forbes seek to recognise the most innovative, creative, and driven young leaders in a range of industries. The final product: 600 revolutionaries in 20 industries changing the course—and the face—of business and society.

‘Knowhere’ to go!

Graduating from St Mary’s College in 2016 with a degree in Combined Social Sciences, Nathaniel is the Co-Founder and CEO of ‘Knowhere’.

Operating from the US, Knowhere is an AI-powered, non-partisan news platform which strives to ‘harness the collective intelligence of the web in order to write the world’s most objective news stories on the events shaping our world’.

Founded during Nathaniel’s time at Durham University, Knowhere went through Stanford's StartX accelerator and has raised more than $7 million from investors including Struck Capital and Abstract Ventures.

Adamant about maintaining a firm independence from outside influence, this exciting news platform has a growing audience of over 540,000.

Attainable by all Durham students

Recalling his time at Durham, Nathaniel said: "It’s a real honour to have been recognised by Forbes for what we’ve been able to build so far at Knowhere.

I have fond memories of first incorporating the company at the Bill Bryson [Library] in my second year, and of the university’s support and understanding – amongst college staff, my tutors and my Dean at the time – as I stretched everything to the limit to both get the company off the ground and to finish my degree.

I want Durham students and alumni to know this path isn’t just open to Harvard, Stanford, and MIT grads, but for us too!"
