Durham Students are bringing the Wild West to the Gala stage

(21 January 2020)

Durham University students are going to be performing the much-loved Broadway and Hollywood musical ‘Oklahoma!’ this week in Durham’s Gala Theatre.

Durham University Light Opera Group (DULOG) is performing this Rogers and Hammerstein classic from Tuesday 21 - Saturday 25 January. The show features iconic musical favourites, songs such as 'Oh what a Beautiful Morning', 'Surrey with a Fringe on Top' and of course 'Oklahoma!'.

From tap-dancing, to waltzing, and the renowned dream ballet, this show will showcase all the performing talent that Durham students have to offer. With its cowboy hats and uplifting energy, this musical will appeal to all ages.

DULOG’s president Millie Blair said “As our largest production of the year, I am absolutely thrilled and grateful that we are able to once again perform in the incredible Gala Theatre and return with such a beloved musical.”

“The whole team have been working tirelessly in recent weeks to bring the show to life. After an intense rehearsal period and braving the freezing January mornings, the cast are extremely excited to share the fruits of their labour with you all in what is sure to be a true spectacle.”

'Oklahoma!' follows DULOG's highly succesful production of 'Singin in the rain', which wowed audiences with on-stage rainfall in 2019. The show continues the annual tradition of DULOG musicals being performed at the Gala in recent years, including 'Spamalot' and 'Seussical the Musical'

Oklahoma! Is being performed from the 21 to the 25 January 2020 at 7:30pm.

There will also be matinee performances at 2:30pm on Wednesday 22 and Saturday 25 January.

Tickets are priced from £8.50 - £14.50 and are available from the Gala Durham Box Office.
