Student singers take centre stage

Northern Lights perform at the Gala Theatre

Our super-talented student singers will be centre stage at a two-week vocal festival.

The Durham Vocal Festival 2020 will have something for all tastes, and some of our best student ensembles will be performing. 

What, when and where?

Joyous Night: Sir Thomas Allen, opera star and Durham University Chancellor, our Chamber Choir and Durham Choral Society will give a concert at Durham Cathedral, Saturday 25 January, 7.30pm

Intercollegiate Evensong: Our College choirs will join together to sing the Evensong church service at Durham Cathedral, Sunday 26 January, 3pm

Northern Lights Acapella Evening: Our hugely successful acapella singing group will perform at the Gala Theatre, Monday 27 January, 7.30pm, supported by our Gospel Choir

The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, featuring several student singers, will perform The Moon Hares at Consett Empire, 29-30 January, 6.30pm

Two masterclasses: with Sir Thomas Allen and Gus Christie, Executive Chairman of Glyndebourne Opera House, at the Assembly Rooms Theatre on Sunday 26 January; and with Exaudi vocal ensemble at Hatfield College on Wednesday 5 February

Plus lunchtime concerts, choir competitions and much more.
