New for 2020: Introducing South College

(11 October 2019)

How South College gateway will look

Do you enjoy being part of something new? Would you like your ideas and creativity to shape Durham University for years to come? Then maybe you could be part of South College: our new 17th College, opening in 2020.

What is South College?

Our Colleges provide a sense of community and belonging, which stays with you all the time you’re a student here and long after you leave.

South College is our new, 17th College, opening for the 2020/21 academic year.

It will be in purpose-built new buildings at Mount Oswald, a short walk from our main Library and other Colleges and Departments.

Accommodation and Facilities

South College will have 492 bed spaces plus four one-bedroom flats.

There will be a mixture of single en-suite bedrooms and Town Houses with single rooms around shared bathrooms facilities.

All accommodation at South College will be self-catered with communal kitchens provided for you to prepare and cook meals.

Ready for 2020…

Building South College began in summer 2018 and the accommodation has now reached its full height. We’re on track to offer a great experience for students from 2020.
