Sexual consent course available to students

(6 February 2017)

As part of the University’s commitment to tackling sexual violence and misconduct, we are developing a range of training materials to raise awareness of the issue.

The latest training we are offering is a module entitled Consent Matters which covers the areas of sexual consent, communication and relationships, and bystander intervention. This is now available on DUO.

The evidence-based course covers consent; how to seek it, how to recognise it and how to identify situations where it can not be given. The interactive course teaches the importance of good communication, clear boundaries and mutual respect. Within the context of social norm and bystander intervention theory, you will learn how to recognise difficult situations and possible ways of stepping in if others need help.

The course takes about one hour to complete, we encourage all students to take part.
