Supporting our athletes during lockdown

(20 May 2020)

With team sports postponed for the foreseeable future, we're working in new and innovative ways to make our wider student experience available online and support our athletes during lockdown.

Our Team Durham colleagues have launched Team Talks, a series of fortnightly workshops, to help keep our Team Durham community united and focused on their development as an athlete and individual.

During the online workshops, our dedicated support services practitioners are delivering tips and advice on performance mindset, strength and conditioning, and nutrition. The workshops also feature Q&As with Team GB and Team Durham alumni athletes.

Sport at Durham

Sport is for everyone and we help our students try new things, to uncover their talents, to be fit and healthy and to be the best that they can be.

The physical and mental health benefits associated with sport and exercise are well documented and we're proud that 75% or our students participate in sport at a college, university or professional level.

With over 550 teams, across 18 sports, our College Sport structure is one of the largest and diverse intra-mural programmes in the world, presenting almost unlimited opportunities to make friends, develop self-worth and feel part of a community.
