Prestigious award for student footballer
(30 January 2020)
One of our postgraduate students, Kathryn Hill, will be named the North East Football Writers’ Association (NEFWA) Women's Player of the Year.
Kathryn joined Durham Women FC in 2017 as part of our partnership with the club and has established herself as a tough-tackling defender who can play full-back or centrally.
Originally from Scotland, Kathryn was a Scottish youth international, represented Rangers in her homeland and Old Dominion University in the US before being tempted to New Ferens Park, the home of Durham Women FC.
Off the pitch
Kathryn has balanced playing sport at an elite level and achieving a Master’s degree as part of our sports scholarship scheme. She now goes into a career as a science teacher, alongside playing in The FA Women's Championship. Kathryn is a first-rate representative of our postgraduate scheme and partnership with Durham Women FC.
