Hitting the right note for Christmas
(28 November 2019)
We have 84 student-led musical societies here at Durham and during December they'll be spreading some Christmas cheer on campus and around the city.
It wouldn't be Christmas without sleigh bells, carols and mince pies and this year, our student musical societies have it all.
3 December - Escape the cold outside and join Hill Orchestra for A Winter’s Night. Proceeds from the refreshment stall will be donated to The Durham Foodbank.
4 December – Durham Dynamic’s Christmas Showcase is an evening of a cappella, featuring chart hits, old classics, and some festive tunes.
8 December - Foot Notes presents Christmas In The City, an evening of a cappella entertainment featuring your favourite Christmas carols and well-known pop tunes.
9 December - Celebrate a very jazzy Christmas with Cuth’s Big Band, playing a mix of your favourite Christmas tunes and Big Band classics. Charitable donations for St Cuthbert’s Society Hospice are welcome.
11 December - Voices choir presents Notes from a Midwinter’s Night, a Christmas Concert filled with carols, hymns, and secular songs – there's even some a cappella.
11 December - Grey Choir leads A Festival of Lessons and Carols, the perfect antidote to wintry summative blues. This service is being held in aid of HandsUp Foundation.
12 December - Satisfy your Christmas cravings with festive classics and Durham University Big Band’s unique blend of Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, Latin and Funk. The event is free to attend and money raised will be donated to charity.
13 December - Join Durham University Concert Band and Durham University Brass Band for their annual joint Christmas Concert, including your favourite Christmas tunes and festive refreshments.
