The International Politics Research Group supports the development of a vibrant research community in International Politics in the School of Government and International Affairs.
The Group brings together a theoretically informed diverse research community that combines methodologies from International Relations, Political Theory, Political Sociology, and Human Geography in the study of world politics. Group members often seek to challenge what is considered “International Relations” in their research.
This work includes “everyday international relations,” “Global IR”, contributions to International Political Theory and International Political Sociology, as well as transdisciplinary engagements animated by concerns about the consequences of the field of International Relation’s Western dominance. Research specialising in various dimensions of conflict, development and security internationally is hosted within DGSi.
Collectively, our research produces work that is theoretically rigorous, empirically informed, and with normative relevance, that helps to shape our understanding of the world today.
