Tampon & Towel Donation Drive 2018

UPDATE 20/03/2018

With some donations still to arrive, a total of 18,780 sanitary products have been donated so far - this is a tremendous level of donations. Thank you to everyone that has donated and organised and supported this initiative! More information to follow about where the products will be donated to. Thank you!!!

Monday 5th March - Friday 9th March

In recognition of International Women's Day on 8 March, staff from the PVC Colleges & Student Experience Office are working in partnership with staff and students across the University in organising a Tampon & Towel Donation Drive for homeless and vulnerable women in the North East.

Inspired by campaigns like #TheHomelessPeriod, the Drive aims to support and contribute to efforts in the North East to help homeless and vulnerable women access sanitary products. Sanitary products are expensive and many women rely on foodbanks and charities for access to these vital items. As a University, we have an opportunity to come together to donate thousands of these much needed items, as well as raising awareness of such an important issue. In our 2016 Drive, over 16,000 products were donated and distributed to 15 different projects across the North East.

This year there are over 30 donation drop-off points across the University from Monday 5th March until Friday 9th March so there is bound to be one near you! Please take along a donation, whether it is an individually wrapped sanitary towel or a whole box of tampons, your help will be greatly appreciated. More environmentally products such as menstrual cups are also welcome.
