Taekwondo

Club Captain: David Willson

Taekwondo is a South Korean martial art and sport, providing the opportunity to climb the ranks and earn different coloured belts. Students typically have three gradings in a year which enables the chance to progress through different coloured belts. More than this, Taekwondo has tenets by which its students should strive to live by, highlighting qualities that help us grow as people. Many students start from the beginning, however Durham University Taekwondo accepts students from all abilities and experience backgrounds. To reflect this, the team have access to coaches to assist in all aspects from basics to competition training. DU Taekwondo are a club that are proud of its inclusivity, and have introduced the TKD Hardship Fund; designed to offer training to those who may not be in a position to afford the full training package.

Additional Information

Although primarily a WT club, Durham University's Taekwondo club welcomes members of both World Taekwondo (WT) and International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) and compete in both disciplines.
