Dr Greg William Misiaszek, Beijing Normal University, China
Dr Greg Misiaszek is a Freirean and a critical comparative educator. His most recent resesarch is on the intersections between Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and environmental pedagogies, including Education for Sustaintable Development (ESD), as they coincide and conflict with various spheres of citizenship (from local to planetary) and citizenship education models. His comparative ecopedagogical research has focused on how socio-environmental connections are taught, not taught, or mis-taught, and the local/global political reasons why.
Before working at Beijing Normal University he worked for nearly 20 years at the School of Gerontology, University of Southern California (USC), helping to develop and manage educational and transformative programmes focused on ending vaious types of social injustices including ageism, elder abuse, and disability discrimination.
Dr Ros Grey, Goldsmiths
Ros Grey is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art, Critical Studies in the Art Department at Goldsmiths.
Her research explores the trajectories of militant filmmaking, particularly in relation to liberation struggles and revoluntionary movemnets in Mozambique, Angola, Portugal, Guinea-Bissau and Burkina Faso, and more recently with the intersections between artistic practices and decolonial environmentalism.
She is on the Editorial Board of Third Text, and is currently preparing two publications - a monograph entitled The Cinemas of Mozambican Revolution, and a special issue of Third Text on the topic of Botanical Conflicts: Contemporary Art and the Politics of Soil and Planting.
Ms. Connie Kwong, Durham University
Connie Kwong is a PhD candidate in Geography. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Hong Kong. Her current research is to understand international volunteering in Asia through the discussion of everyday ethics and responsibility using a case study of volunteers from the Greater China Region.
Mrs Lynsey Finnemore, Durham University
Lynsey Finnemore is Vice Principal at Ustinov College, where she directs the Global Citizenship Programme and is responsible for developing a wide range of activities aimed at furthering the College and University strategy, especially in relation to building a strong research culture in the College, creating opportunities for personal development of students and assisting in the realisation of the College’s vision and mission.
