Main College site - Howlands Farm
Our main College site is located just outside the city centre, approximately 20 minutes walk into the central shopping area. A convenient Park & Ride bus service runs from just outside College grounds into the city centre every 10 minutes. The University's Mountjoy site, on which the main library and many academic departments iare based, is approximately 10 minutes walk from Howlands Farm.
Our main site buildings opened in 1998, offering modern, purpose-built accommodation.
Dryburn Court site
Our Dryburn Court site is situated to the west of the city centre, near the main hospital. It is just over one and a half miles to the city centre, just under two miles to the library and two and a half miles to Howlands Farm. The Park & Ride service provides a frequent bus service during the day from Dryburn Court to the city centre, then through the main parts of the University, and on to Howlands Farm. Dryburn Court offers modern accommodation and facilities having opened in 2005, including accommodation for families and couples.
In Durham City you will find the castle and cathedral, part of a World Heritage site, a theatre, museums, the annual Regatta on the River Wear, an indoor market and shopping centres, lots of cafes and a variety of restaurants and bars and some clubs.
In the surrounding area, there are large shopping centres, Beamish open air museum, football at St James' Park and the Stadium of Light, cricket at Durham County Cricket Ground, international athletics at Gateshead and clubbing in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Nearby, there are museums, parks and castles, the Durham Dales, Yorkshire Moors and the Scottish Borders.
