University of Western Australia (UWA)

Summer Down Under Research Internship

This bespoke 8-week Research Internship Programme consists of both coursework and research, providing an opportunity for high-performing students who are considering a postgraduate degree, to get an insider’s look at UWA’s research specialities, meet and work with a potential future supervisor and experience the richness of Australian culture.

The coursework components will be taught in the first 3 weeks. To accommodate time zone differences, we will be recording all coursework sessions so that students can listen to them asynchronously. Project meetings will be organised with the supervisor at a mutually convenient time.

Here is a flyer. We are now offering an Early Bird Special fee of AUD $1,500 for applications before 31 Mar 21.

Global Internship Bursaries

The University has a limited number of bursaries available to assist home undergraduate students who are looking to undertake a self-found global internship. Bursaries are available to support things like international air travel, accommodation, subsistence, fees and charges for visas, travel vaccinations etc. Global Internship Bursaries are not available to postgraduate students. Bursaries will not cover self-found TEFL training, personal trips or excursions out with the main purpose of the internship, or any other activity that is not essential to participation in the internship.

In the first instance, students should contact their college to explore options for financial support. Before you apply for a Global Internship Bursary your college must have confirmed what level of financial support, if any, is available to you. Students who receive financial support from their college are less likely to be awarded a Global Internships Bursary, but you may still apply for a bursary.

Global Internship Bursaries are available to a maximum of £500. In exceptional circumstances, applications for funding beyond £500 may be supported.

Students should specify on the application form what level of financial support is required and for what purposes. Please note that the award of a bursary does not mean that all your financial support request will be met.

Global Internship Bursary Application Form can be found here
