Outgoing Students
Why should I consider an overseas exchange?
Travelling and experiencing life in another country can be a very rewarding experience. Taking part in an exchange programme is a great way to live in another country whilst continuing your studies and broadening your horizons. You have the opportunity to see your academic subject from a different perspective, to meet new people and to experience things that you may otherwise not have been able to. A study abroad experience can also give you that extra edge once you have graduated and are thinking of going onto further study or looking for employment.
Just a few of the reasons to study abroad...
1) See (more of) the world
2) Experience a different style of education/work
3) Learn about another culture
4) Learn another language (or just some new words!)
5) Enhance your career opportunities
6) Discover undiscovered talents
7) Make lifelong friends
Durham University has more than 240 student exchange agreements under the Erasmus+ and International Exchange programmes. Our partner institutions are spread across the globe from Austria to New Zealand! Almost 400 Durham students every year take the opportunity to spend a period abroad and we welcome more than 300 students to Durham from our partner institutions each year. You can find out more about life at Durham by visiting our pages dedicated to Incoming Students or Outgoing Students and read our Durham Students Abroad blog to find out what life is like studying abroad as a Durham student.
