Durham academics have many and varied connections with colleagues across Europe, as well as those with specific research interests in aspect of European culture, studies, history, politics, law, philosophy etc. Through our involvement with Erasmus+ we have over 200 partnerships with European universities to facilitate staff and student exchanges, in addition to supporting over 500 work and study placements for our students within europe each year.

Arctic Law network active

Prof. Phil Steinberg and colleagues in the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Law. As part of the Arctic Circle conference, the panel discussed the important role of 'values' in discussions relating the Arctic. The group noted that this theme was often missing and that cultural and spritual values should be considered alongside the traditional pillars of socety, economy and environment. For more information see
