Durham University – GREAT Scholarships 2020 – Malaysia and Thailand.

This year, in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Durham University are offering two scholarships worth £10,000 each to students in Malaysia and Thailand applying for eligible postgraduate taught courses for 2020.

This scholarship scheme is part of the “GREAT Scholarships 2020” campaign, which has been launched by the British Council together with 36 UK universities to support more students in China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Turkey to access excellent UK higher education opportunities.

The total value of the scholarship programme is over £800K and offers an exciting opportunity for students from China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Turkey to get financial support to pursue postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 36 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Funding available

  • 1 x £10,000 scholarship for students from Malaysia
  • 1 x £10,000 scholarship for students from Thailand for any Business or Science/Engineering programme (excluding MBA programmes).

Eligibility

You can apply for a Durham University - GREAT Malaysia Scholarship if you:

  • are a national of Malaysia, hold a Malaysian passport and
  • classed as an overseas student for fee purposes, self-financing and
  • hold an offer to start a full-time Masters degree in September 2020

You can apply for a Durham University - GREAT Thailand Scholarship if you:

  • are a national of Thailand, hold a Thai passport and
  • classed as an overseas student for fee purposes, self-financing and
  • hold an offer to start a full-time Business or Science/Engineering programme (excluding MBA programmes) Masters degree in September 2020

How to Apply

Once you have received an offer of study from Admissions, you can apply for the GREAT Scholarship.

Applications for the British Council GREAT scholarship must be made via your applicant portal. Click on Apply and follow the steps to submit your application. As part of your application please upload an essay, which should be submitted as either a Word or PDF document. For this essay, please write no more than 600 words on how this course will contribute to your future career, and why you should be awarded the GREAT scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the information provided on your application to Durham University, together with your essay content in line with the British Council GREAT scholarship profile.

The British Council GREAT Scholarship is subject to full terms and conditions which will be provided to successful candidates at the point of award.

Closing date for applications

The application closing date for these scholarships at Durham University is the 24 April 2020.
