Entry requirements

Undergraduate

Undergraduate level studies are bachelors degree level studies (e.g. BA or BSc).

For entry to this level of programme we would require an IB, or A level, or an overall average score of 1 / MCL in the Maturitná skúška or Maturita.

Please note: the advertised requirements are equivalent to ABB at A-Level. Please contact the International Office for more information.

Taught postgraduate

Postgraduate taught level studies are masters degrees (e.g. MA or MSc), usually of one year in duration.

For entry to this level of programme we would require a Bakalár awarded since 2005 with an overall B grade or better.

Research postgraduate

Postgraduate research degrees are available as one-year programmes, or more often three years leading to PhD.

For entry to this level of programme we would require a <span >Master's degree awarded since 2003.

English Language Requirements

The minimum entry levels for international students onto any programme of study except the Foundation Programme at Durham University are listed below. All qualifications must be taken within two years* of the start of the academic programme. Acceptable English Language examinations for entry to Durham University are:

  • IELTS: 6.5 (no component under 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT: 92 (no component under 23)
  • Cambridge Proficiency (CPE): Grade C
  • Cambridge Advanced (CAE): Grade A
  • Cambridge IGCSE First Language English at Grade C or above
  • Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language at Grade B or above
  • GCSE English Language at grade C or above
  • Pearson Test of English (overall score 62 (with no score less than 56 in each component)

Many departments/schools require different (higher) levels for entry onto particular programmes of study.
