'Employability in the Curriculum'
A Coimbra Group Virtual Event - Thursday 15th April 2021 - 09:30 - 16:30 British Summer Time (10:30 - 17:30 CEST)
Coordinated by Dr Tony Fawcett, Durham’s Deputy Provost for Education, with support from the International Office and Shelagh Green, Director of Careers at the University of Edinburgh, this event aims to bring together colleagues from universities across the Coimbra Group, a European network to which Durham has belonged since 2016.
The event seeks to explore the topic of ‘Employability in the Curriculum’ – a particularly pertinent topic in the current climate where young people's employment prospects have been impacted by the effects of the pandemic. Presentations delivered by colleauges from the universities of UC Louvain, Trinity College Dublin, Edinburgh, Durham and Barcelona will explore approaches to including, and recognising, employability in formal modules and in co-curricular activities. Examples presented by educators and colleagues working in student employability will set the scene for round table discussions on topics raised throughout the day and will inform future developments in participating Universities.
The day’s programme will also feature Vice Chancellor Professor Corbridge and Cllr Katie Corrigan, Chairman of Durham County Council and the Mayor of Durham, participating in a virtual signing of the Poitiers Declaration – a Coimbra Group initiative which signals the importance of universities working hand in hand with their local municipality, and vice versa to support one another’s development.
Colleagues from Durham, and other Coimbra Group universities are welcome to attend the virtual event. The programme can be found below but delegates are kindly asked to register in advance in order to receive an updated version of the programme one week prior to the event, along with the Zoom link.
For any queries related to registration, please contact Karen Dobson, Executive Assistant to Dr Tony Fawcett (email@example.com)
