Durham Centre for Academic Development

Teacher Development Courses

The English Language Department, part of the Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD), runs in-service and pre-service teacher training courses for English Language Teachers from various countries. Its primary focus is on running teacher development courses for closed groups from other institutions. Our close relationship with other University departments coupled with our own research into teaching and learning ensure that we are able to offer teachers well-informed, practical and up-to-date approaches.

Our staff have extensive experience of working overseas. They are in touch with the educational cultures and institutions of many different countries and can combine an innovative outlook with a strong understanding of the needs and limitations of different teaching situations.

“It's simply wonderful!
Not only have I gained from the teacher training courses, I've also met people from different backgrounds and cultures. Such experience has increased my understanding of the world and made me a more competent teacher.”
