General English for International and Erasmus Students

(19 September 2017)

The English Language Centre is running classes for students or dependents in Durham who would like to improve their general English proficiency in an informal yet fun way.

Classes will be focused on useful language and skills which will help you to communicate on a day to day basis during your stay in Durham. They will focus on general English and built around a variety of general interest topics.

The course is taught by an international group of English language trainee teachers studying on an MA in Applied Linguistics for TESOL in the English Language Centre. The teachers follow a communicative pedagogy and will have as their primary aim, the goal of teaching you to the best of their ability to suit your needs as a class and as individuals.

Students who are intermediate ability (B1/B2, IELTS 5.0-6.0) will gain the most benefit. We also welcome low level students (A1/A2) and will run a class if there are enough students. There are only 20 places on the course so you should only join if you are committed and able to attend the full nine weeks at the time available.

Days: either every Tuesday between 2-4 or Friday between 1-4 (to be confirmed)

Dates: wc 16 October - wc 11 December 2017
