NOTE CHANGE TO EVENT PROGRAMME 'Darwinian Fictions,' with Professor Patricia Waugh (Durham University)
Owing to ill health, AS Byatt is unable to be present to talk about the 1995 film version of her novella, Angels and Insects. Instead she has produced a paper that Patricia Waugh will read and then give her response.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND ADMISSION IS FREE.
In place of the dialogue, Professor Patricia Waugh (English Studies, Durham University) will be giving a talk about problems of filmic adaptation, which will include both extracts from the film and a response to remarks of Dr Byatt especially composed for the conference. Afterwards it will be possible to view the film in its entirety.
The talk is part of the British Academy and IAS-sponsored conference, 'The Evolution of Literature: Legacies of Darwin in European Cultures', 4th-6th April 2008. For more details on the conference, follow the related links below.
