Dr Taha Rajab

Dr Taha Rajab is a Research Associate in the School of Education. He joined the School in 2016. Prior to his appointment at the School of Education, Taha worked as a Research Fellow in the Institute for Effective Education (IEE) at the University of York. At the IEE, Taha was involved in an EEF-funded project which looked at improving the quality of classroom talk as a means of increasing pupils' engagement, learning, and attainment.
His research interests include dialogic teaching, research methods, teacher professional development, EFL, and classroom learning in developing countries. Taha taught semantics, applied linguistics and Arabic at Manchester Metropolitan University. At the same time, he was also a research associate with the IEE and got involved in projects for the UNRWA and Worldwide University Network (WUN). His PhD at York looked at classroom interaction through the lens of dialogic teaching.
He holds MA in Sociolinguistics from the University of Leeds. He also taught modules on language acquisition, learning through talk, semantics and teaching methodology at higher education level.
