Sitting at the heart of Durham's World Heritage site and occupied continuously since the 11th century, the Castle is now home to the students of University College, part of Durham University.
What's On View All Events
Durham Castle will be closed today and no Castle Tours will be taking place as we holding a special family community day.
Durham Castle Tours will not be available between 26th June and the 1rd of July. This is because Durham Castle is part of Summer Congregation 2016. Congregation is the term used to describe our graduation ceremonies and means a gathering of members and friends of the University to witness and celebrate the conferring of degrees. Durham Castle is where Graduands gather before the ceremony and then process to Durham Cathedral for the ceremony. Find out more https://www.dur.ac.uk/ceremonies/congregation/summerdates/
