Preparing for Durham

International Office Advice

Durham University International Office has prepared information and advice here for international students travelling to Durham.

Information is available on:

Enrolment and Registration

Students for all courses at the University will enrol and register for their course of study using the online system. Students are expected to start this process before they arrive in Durham.

Before you arrive, you will be sent an email link to activate your Durham University account. You should then check, confirm and update your personal information held by the University. You will also need to accept the University's regulations. At this point you can also upload your photograph for your student Campus Card, which means it will be ready for you to collect on the first day of the course.

Doing this before you arrive means that you will find the first few days much easier, as you will be able to get online immediately.

It is your responsibility to ensure that this information is correct and you can update your details at any time after you have completed enrolment

Paying for your course

We recommend that students pay for their course in advance. You will find it difficult to find time to go to the Finance office to pay once you arrive (it is quite far from your teaching locations), so you will make your life much easier if you are organised about this. If you do not attend the Pre-sessional course for any reason, your Pre-sessional tuition fees can be refunded.

Keeping informed

It is important, once you receive your offer, that you make sure your email address on the system is your up-to-date, personal email address. We send ezines out with essential information before your arrival, and often students who have let their agents set the agent's email as the primary email address do not receive these important communications.
